Obituary

Joseph F. “Joe” Roub, Sr., 91, Altoona died Monday morning November 4, 2019 at his home.
He was born July 27, 1928 in Altoona, son of the late William A. and Julia (Parks) Roub. On Nov. 27, 1954, he married Rose Marie Meloy in Altoona, and she preceded him in death on Nov. 28, 2012.
Surviving are his four children, Julia (Paul) Vallade of Maryland, Jack (Doreen) of North Carolina, and Jeannette Shannon and Rose Mary Roub, both of Altoona; nine grandchildren, Ryan Shannon, Erin Shumac, Sean Shannon, Andrew Vallade, Kimberly Laughton, Christin Roub, Joseph Roub, III, Anthony Roub and John Roub; ten great-grandchildren, Cameron and Kailah Shannon, Seamas, Kinley, Maeve and Meallan Shumac, Liam Roub, and Shawn, Sydney and Devin; brothers and sisters in law, Mary (William) Robb, Elizabeth MacFarlane and John Eckenrode, all of Altoona; and a special family friend, Becky Lardieri .
He was preceded in death by a son, Joseph F., Jr.; and a son in law, Patrick Shannon. Joe was the last of his immediate family being preceded in death by 13 siblings.
He retired from the environmental services department at Altoona Hospital after 28 years of service. He attended First Baptist Church, Altoona. Joe enjoyed WWF Wrestling, building models and was a train enthusiast.
Joe was a one of a kind soul, and God blessed him with 91 years to spread his love, joy and humor. We all have many, many happy memories and humorous moments with him. His fast talking, fast walking, silly songs and love of dogs is known by many. He was a teacher to many without knowing it, and a wonderful example of how to love your family and people in general. He will be missed tremendously.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm, Thursday, Nov. 7, 2019 at Jon C. Russin Funeral Home, Inc. Bellwood. A funeral service will be held at 10am, Friday, Nov. 8, 2019 at the funeral home, Pastor Jerry Sneath officiating. Interment will be at Grandview Cemetery, Altoona.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the funeral home for funeral expenses.

We are so sorry to see the passing of one of our favorites- Joseph was very well loved and we loved his sarcasm and witty come backs. He will be greatly missed prayers to everyone at this difficult time.

So hard to say goodbye to this dear sweet man. I don't think there was a mean bone in him. His smile and quick wit will be with me forever. RIP Uncle Joe
